RS200 Coaching DVD
07/02/2012 14:43:31

A lot of you brought the RS200 Coaching DVD before Xmas. Perhaps you received one as a gift ... It's a great coaching tool, with top coach Mark Rushall, and featuring the 2011 National Champion, James Peters.

Just £9.95 for members, £12.95 for non-members of RS Association,
including p+p. To order, go to - http://www.rs-association.com/index.asp?fleet=RS200&selection=Shop

We've had lots of feedback, including the following - 'DVD safely arrived and it is brilliant! As a team of father and 14 yr old daughter we had a blast in our first taste of national sailing at Weymouth, achieving our goal of not coming last and realizing just how much we had to learn. This DVD has thoroughly explained a lot to us and we are now itching to get back on the water for the new season. The ‘transom cam’ was an exceptionally good view of the techniques required, it really is
the next best thing to being in the boat with the experts. Many thanks
to James [Peters] for sharing all his tips and techniques. Excellent DVD
which should be watched by anyone wanting to improve!'

Don't miss out ....

Activate your Fleet - An Invitation
24/01/2012 15:06:18

The RYA is encouraging sailors to dust off their boat covers and take to the water as part of the new Activate Your Fleet programme.

The aim of the programme is to work with Fleet Captains of sailing clubs across the country to develop new ideas on how they can encourage more sailors in their fleet to get their boats out of the boat park and out onto the water.

To help Fleet Captains to ‘Activate their Fleet’, the RYA is offering a RS workshops which will give RS fleet and class captains the chance to get together sharing ideas and tips and discussing fleet development.    The first RS Workshop is scheduled for Thursday 16th February at Hamble River SC, from 1900hrs - 2100hrs.

“There are a huge range of classes spread throughout the boat parks of clubs all over the country and whilst we recognise there are some very successful fleets out there, there are also some boats which have not moved for years” said Robbie Bell, RYA Regional Development Officer for the East, who has been instrumental in setting up the scheme. We truly believe that there has never been a better time to enthuse sailors to dust of their boat covers and get back into sailing on a regular basis and we are here to help in achieving that aim.”

Please do get involved, or encourage your club Fleet Captain to do so.

See www.rya.org.uk/go/ayf for more details of the scheme, and book by contacting Andy Hooper at 07748 806733 or andy.hooper@rya.org.uk

Well done Nick!   Well deserved indeed.
Nick Craig, RS400 National Champion awarded Yachtsman of the Year
10/01/2012 19:42:26
Nick Craig, current RS400 National Champion was today Jan 10th awarded the prestigious Yachtsman of the Year award, voted on by members of the Yachting Journalists Association. The other two people nominated for the award were Dee Caffari and Ben Ainslie. As many people have observed it is great achievement for a truly amateur small boat sailor.

Nick has been a long term RS400 sailors and big fan of the class but also finds the time to sail many other classes. In 2011 he also managed to win again the OK World Championship as well as the UK OK Nationals and Inlands. He also won the Endeavour Trophy for an amazing 5th time. Many congratulations Nick from all in RS land.

Proposed Re-organisation of RS Class Association - Outcome of Vote

Many thanks to the 71 members who took the time to vote on the proposed re-organisation of the RS Class Association.

91.5% (65) of the votes were for the proposed changes, so we will be going forward accordingly.

Many fleets will not see much of a change, especially initially, but the first change you will all see are new-look websites which will be going live in January.

A very Happy Christmas to you all, and Great Sailing in 2012.
