Then onto Datchet on 4/5 April for the first multi fleet Racing Circuit event of 2009. MARCH SAILING winter is over, summer is on the waySpring has sprung and were off to Leigh del Garda on 7/8 March. Top racing and a fantastic evening of curry and comedy at the club.Just a gentle nudge that the training weekend is fast approaching on the 21/22 March at Northampton. We are pretty much full for our initial numbers and the coaches have everyones requirements so are putting together the requested sessions. However. due to the early volume of interest (and knowing that as soon as the season kicks off at Leigh everyone will be mad for getting on the water as much as possible) we are giving you all until 9th March to enter provisionally - and then depending on numbers interested we will draft in extra coach(es) and confirm your place. There will be a bundle of entry forms at Leigh for the training as well. Entry form is available on-line under Forms at http://www.rs-association.com/index.asp?fleet=RS400 and selection=DocumentsAlso there will be 4 races at Northants on the 22nd March that anyone can enter - whether you were involved in the training or not. If you are just coming for the day then racing entry is GBP12 - no pre-entry necessary. Tents and campervans are welcome at the club.Anna LudgateRS400 1121/1275 RS400 Spring Training, Northampton SC, March 2021. Register to avoid disappointment. At the end of last year there was a lively discussion about the cost of sailing - over a few Guinnesss in Wexford SC bar. (We had plenty to say as the first day of the Irish Nationals cost us nearly GBP1000 a gybe i.e. not many gybes before we lost the rig and a suit of sails how careless!)One way of looking at this is that if we dont use our boats very often then they can seem quite expensive to own. (I think the other point is thank goodness for Noble Insurance!)There are loads of reasons to get out on the water this year and judging by the uptake for the Spring Coaching there are a wide range of abilities and ages from novice club racers to ambitious circuit sailors. All of them keen to get on with racing and improving their sailing. What we really want to do is ensure that we reach all those grass roots sailors before the weekend becomes full! So if youve been meaning to fill in the registration form then dont wait any longer! Its only 8 weeks away and we want those attending to get the maximum focus from the right level of coaching. To do this we need to get an accurate picture of what kinds of sailors are attending.Highlights see RS news for full details or read on.- Saturday coaching geared to all levels from club racing novice to circuit racing wannabes (we will have 4 coaches specialising in all abilities). - Sailing supper at club on Saturday night with sailing video out-takes and highlights. - One-day coached racing on Sunday.Need a registration form?http://www.rs-association.com/index.asp?fleet=RS400 and selection=Documents http://www.rs-association.com/index.asp?fleet=RS400 and selection=Documents\ Sam Parker RS400 Calendar 2009We have dates for all Championships and have put together a Racing Circuit and Eurocup for 2009 for the RS400s. I am and Im planning to embrace the winter this year and actually sail through it!!! The 2009 circuit calendar is coming together nicely and as soon as its finalised well let you know. The committee will be announced soon too. Louise Hosken and I were having a natter over a cider a few weeks ago. and decided that winter training to kick off the season would be the best way to start a plan to win the Nationals! Save the date - March 21/22. Were going to Northampton for a training weekend. The location is half way between Portsmouth and Manchester as central as we could get really. We will have enough coaches to gear Saturday to your personal needs and well have a proper dinner and social on the saturday night and then run lots of short races on the sunday to keep us all warm and to practice new techniques. There will be more information in the Christmas newsletter as well as information about how to register. See you on the water. Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions for next year.
