Zhik RS600 Eurocup 2011, Carnac

The RS200/400/500/600/700/800 fleets are all invited to Carnac, South
Brittany, France, in May for their 2011 Eurocup event, sponsored by Zhik.
The Beach at Carnac
Just 2.5 hour drive from the ferry at Saint-Malo, Carnac is particularly renowned for its megalithic alignments (standing stones!) - unique in the world. It is also well-known its huge beaches of fine sand, its preserved setting and a particularly mild climate, which make it a special holiday destination.
In the middle of the beaches, the Yacht Club opens up in front of one of the most beautiful bay in Europe: the bay de Quiberon, the continental sailing Mecca. Sailing School, busy club and dinghy rental centre, Carnac Yacht Club is also well known for having organised great events for the last few years: the Eurocat, one of the biggest events in the world for catamarans, Dart 18 European Championship, Laser Eurocup, RS Eurocup, GP 14 European Championship, 470 National, 420 Nationals, Topper Worlds, Optimist Nationals, Funboard Nationals, 18 foot skiff European Championships, and, of course, the excellent 2009 RS Eurocup.

Entry Pre-booking is essential for this event. On-line entry is available here. There is no minimum requirement for fleets, but fleets with fewer than 6 boats may share starts. The cost of the event is £119/boat, providing you book before 1 May.
Racing There is a reliable sea-breeze in the Bay of Quiberon, so racing is scheduled for the afternoons. 2 races/day will be scheduled. There are often lovely rolling waves in the Bay. We will sail all fleets on 2 enormous trapezoid courses, with 2 distinct finish lines to help to keep all fleets away from each other. The bay is enormous so there will be no limits on space. Racing will not start before 1330hrs on Saturday 28 May. There will be no start sequence after 1330hrs on Tuesday 31 May for those worried about the return journey.
Social Carnac is an extremely attractive and lively holiday destination, with plenty of fabulous restaurants, clubs, bars, and lots of local sights for the morning and for accompanying friends and families bring everyone, the more the merrier! The club is arranging a couple of parties, and are speaking to local bars and nightclubs about deals. Racing will be in the afternoons so there will be plenty of time for sightseeing or recovering.
